Moderate members of the majority are not supportive of the measure.
This week, Senate majority members met for a virtual lunchtime meeting to discuss their caucus strategy. They agreed that it would be prudent to take a step back from discussing President Biden’s “Build Back Better” plan, especially after Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia appeared on a Sunday news program to declare his dissent to the plan as it currently stands.
Senator Manchin indicated that he is open to a package that builds on the climate-related provisions of the president’s plan. “The climate thing is one that we probably can come to an agreement much easier than anything else,” he stated. “There’s a lot of good things in there.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Biden as he and his cabinet reexamine the many pieces of the Build Back Better plan.
- For moderate and progressive members of the Senate to come together with a plan that is best for the entire nation.
